There Games!
|
There hosts Winter and Summer
Games. The Summer games run for two weeks in August and the
competing teams are determined by name tag color.
Join your name tag team
here: Official_TeamAvi
|
There are many types of games such as races,
quests, puzzles, parties, paintball, and many more. There is
something for everyone. Find the list of events here: List
|
Scoring:
Each host has a way to determine team winners. Basically a 1st,
2nd, and 3rd place team will be determined for each event. The
first place team gets 3 points toward the There Games total.
Second place gets 2 and Third place gets 1.
|
Prizes:
The There Games do not have prizes at each event. However, there
is a participation skill ladder which will grant you prizes when you
reach Casual, Avid, and Expert levels. Also, the top 3 teams at
the end of the event get Gold, Silver, or Bronze medal shirts to show
off their win.

Some There Games and Rules
|
|
Josette's Mystery Quest:
This quest starts Aug
11 and runs through Aug
18.
People who finish on the first day will be counted toward the
Aug. 11 event. Josie will add up the number of finishers who
belong to each name tag team. The name tag team with the most
finishers will win 1st place, second most, 2nd place, 3rd most will be
3rd place.
People who finish the quest by Aug
18, will be tallied up in the same way to determine winners for the
Aug 18 event. Yes, people who count on Aug 11 will also count on
Aug 18. Josie could remove them after the 11th, but some would
run the quest again and some not. She had decided to go with non
removal.

Gloree's Qualifying Laps and Races
There are two sets of these events. One set on Aug 13 and one on
Aug 14.
Each set has an hour with 3 qualifying events followed by an hour of 2
races. The qualifying events will determine who will be invited
to the
races. The reason for 3 sets of qualiyfing events is to allow
people
to qualify without lagging the track. The reason for invitation
only
races is to keep the track from being overcrowded and to give some
control for fair participation by each team.
The reason for two sets of events is to allow for participation from
various time zones. The Aug 13 events are better suited for
European
times. The Aug 14 events are better suited for Pacific times.
How it works: Qualifying. The track will be open for 20 min
of
qualifying. The qualifiers will be the 8 names on the lap board
at the
end of the event. If a person qualifies in one event in the hour, they
will not be allowed in the events to follow. People standing by
and
not lapping will be removed. At the end of the events, there
could be
as many as 24 names to invite to the races, and there could be a
variety of possibilities for teams.
Qualifying Scoring for There
Games: The top 8 teams on the board will
be awarded qualifying points by position. 1st place, 8 pts, 2nd
place
7 and so on with the 8th place scoring 1. After points are
tallied,
the team winners will be determined for reporting to There Games for
THAT qualifying event. The 3 qualifying sessions are
independently reported as separate events.
Since there are 3 qualifying sessions, up to 24 players will be invited
to one or the other of the race sessions
|
Here are the guidelines gloree will use in inviting the teams
to the races.
No more than 2 players will be invited to a race from the same
team.
It is possible that due to the number of qualifiers, a team will be
invited to both race sessions. If this is the case the 2 players
from
session 1 will be different from the 2 players invited to session
2.
Here is a hypothetical case. Suppose team A has six qualifiers
and all
the other 18 qualifiers are from 15 different teams. In this
case,
team A would only be invited to ONE of the racing sessions. The
priority will go to inviting the maximum number of teams.
However,
these qualifiers will have already scored for their team by being
qualifiers.
No more that 8 teams of 2 will be invited to each race session.
If
fewer than 16 name tag teams qualify, they will be divided equally
between the two race sessions to the extent possible. If there is
an
odd number of qualifying teams such that one race session must have
more teams invited than the other, the balance will be achieved through
considering numbers of racers per team.
Team placement will be
done in the interest in equalizing teams numbers and player
numbers. There is no way to give a description of every
possible scenario, but the following example may be useful.
Example:
Team A has 5 qualifiers
Team B has 4 qualifiers
Team C has 4 qualifiers
Team D has 3 qualifiers
Team E has 3 qualifiers
Team F has 2 qualifiers
Team G has 2 qualifiers
Team H has 1
Team I has 1
Since Team A has 5 qualifiers, only 4 will be invited. The team
will
be allowed to pick the racers. If they cannot do this, the four
with
the best lap times will be chosen. If there is a tie between the last 2
places, the invitied member will be determined by either listing on the
board if in the same event, or by which ever one was in the earlier
event.
Team A: Of the four chosen, the best and worst lap time will be in race
I and the other two in race II.
Team B: Best and worst lap time in race I, other two in race II.
Team C: Same as team B
Team D: Best and worst lap time in Race I, middle lap time in Race II
Team E: To balance numbers with team D, Best and worst lap time
in Race II, middle lap time in Race I.
Team F: Both racers in Race I
Team G: Both racers in Race II
Team H: in race I
Team I in race II
That will leave 12 racers from teams A,B,C,D,E and F in race I
and 12 racers from teams A,B,C,D,E,G in race II
|
|
Races
|
The first 5-8 minutes will be
for lapping. Races will be by lap time from this five minute
session. This will be followed by four races in which one racer
from each team will join. If the team has two players, they must
alternate races. If the team has one player, he may run in each
race.
In each race, the teams will be awarded race points of 8-1 points
depending on finish position. 8 for first place, 7 for 2nd,
etc. At the end of the four races, points will be tallied to
determine the team winners.
Session I and II are independent of each other and will have separate
sets of winners.
